WASHINGTON -(Dow Jones)- The former chief investment officer of the Troubled Asset Relief Program has landed at a San Diego, Calif., energy company that produces a form of crude oil by using algae, sunlight and carbon dioxide.
Sapphire Energy said James Lambright, who also is a former head of the U.S. Export-Import Bank, started this month as the company's chief financial officer and president overseeing international operations.
Lambright will focus on expanding the company's presence in international markets, Sapphire said in announcing his hiring.
Lambright, who was tapped to work on the TARP in October 2008 by former U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson, left the department several months ago.
"Sapphire Energy is the perfect place to help address the most complex challenges facing economies around the world, those of energy security and the environment," Lambright said in a statement.
