Biorefinery Assistance Program

Title 9 of the Farm Bill includes one of the most beneficial of all federal funding mechanisms: Section 9003’s Biorefinery Assistance Program. This program offers USDA-sponsored grants and loan guarantees to assist rigorously vetted, qualified biofuel companies in their capitalization of commercial-scale biorefineries.

Biomass Crop Assistance Program

The Biomass Crop Assistance Program, known as BCAP, is another Farm Bill program that has the potential to help advanced biofuel companies expand their agricultural base in the U.S. BCAP offers matching, establishment, or annual payments to farmers that grow dedicated energy crops. Algae is included in the BCAP program, and continued expansion of eligible dedicated agricultural energy feedstocks will help the industry expand their domestic biomass production, thus revitalizing rural American economies, while creating thousands of agricultural jobs.
